Danny and Annie

Redditor Heromedic18 snapped this touching photo of an elderly gentleman who has bought his wife flowers every Monday for 47 years.

Now, I’m going to get really sappy on you (which I rarely do, btw) and post an animated short titled Danny and Annie which tells the very real story of an older couples’ twenty-seven-year romance in their own voices. Tears will be shed.

I didn’t realize how dusty this room was.  My goodness, my eyes are watering up.  I should dust this room.

That is my favorite Story Corps piece. Some of the best content I’ve seen on the internet. Heartbreaking and so, very, very touching.

Can’t believe I never heard of Story Corps til now….what a well-executed concept. Thanks for turning me on to yet another thing that my life would be poorer without.

Thanks Tara!

I often underestimate just how powerful and intimate the human voice can be. Volumes of information relayed in the timber of a sigh or the ring of a laugh.

My wife and I watched this together and I was struck by the fragility of love; how temporary this time we all have together is. Somehow, that impending loss that we will all face makes the now-nectar so much sweeter.

Story Corp nails it.
