That cabby’s brilliant: He stays in that psuedo-1st person the whole way through, and it really works.
The dude certainly came from a third world country, and it’s sobering to realize that had he been born in the developed world, he’d have a degree or two under his belt and a solid career in marketing analytics or whatnot.
Dudes lucky, my father owned a cab firm back in the 90’s and one of the cabbies had three guys try to do a runner on him after totting up a large fare from London out into the countryside.
What they didn’t know was that he was a part time cabby, the rest of his time was spent teaching Karate to international competition standard and marathon running.
They ended up paying AND giving him a substantial tip. :D
@Em
Why do you say he’s from a third world country? There’s nothing in this post that says that at all, and if you’re basing it on the fact that he’s cab driver that’s really ridiculous and flat out offensive. You also make the assumption that anyone not born in the “developed world” is unintelligent and unable to gain any form of higher learning. Oh, because right, I forgot, anyone not born in a developed country is incapable of learning enough to get through college. People with 2.0 GPAs get through college, I’m sure this man is more than capable. Your entire comment is offensive and horrible.
@emily
the way he writes led me to think english may be his second language. i didn’t even think of his being a cab driver when i thought that. i don’t know about third world like em says and even if english is a second language for him he wrote so well that i just had the slightest feeling about it. also, em doesn’t say anywhere in her post that she thinks those from third world countries are unintelligent. sounds to me as though she means they lack opportunity.i guess you’ll have to let me know if that’s offensive, too.
@emily
I believe she was referring to his grammar not the fact that he’s a cab driver. It actually kinda amazes me that you basically offended yourself by making such bold assumptions, you know what they say happens when you assume…. Oh and just by the way it’s people like you that get all offended by stupid little comments that keep racism alive. That is all, have a wonderful day
@emily I think you completely missed the point. Em was saying that a person as intelligent and kind as this cab driver, if they had been born in a developed country, would have been able to get “a degree or two” while a person like that from a less wealthy background (is probably still able to do that, but probably) considers themselves lucky that they even managed to move to a western country even if it means that they have to be a cab driver.
kool story , dignified response from the cabby , what these assholes who jump cabs dont relise they are basically STEALING somebodies wage by doing so , i wonder how this man would react if somebody stole a portion of his wage , im sure he would be up in arms . Just basic disgusting pisspot behaviour , cabbies tolerate enough shit as it is from general public , yet when people need to get somewhere they pray for cabs and this is how people repay them , just another poor element of society , i say let the drunks find there own way home , stay in the gutters ,get bashed and robbed for your own inability to keep it real , why ruin someone elses night by your own selfish behaviour , you will blow hundreds on alcohol but wont coff up the fair to get delivered to your door safely , what would be a great story is cabby re arranges drunkin fools face with cro bar for stealing money ,
society will toughen up on f wit behaviour oneday
all of you who are defending em have got to be kidding me.. lets read her comment again

1. She flat out says “the dude CERTAINLY came from a third world country”. How more presumptuous can you get? Based off of the 10 lines of text that this man wrote how can one by any means come to the conclusion that he is from a third world country.
2. I didn’t know being able to continually write in a specific writing perspective for ten lines qualifies a person for a degree and career in marketing, but wait not just one degree, POSSIBLY TWO? Em sounds more likely to come from a third world country due to her lacking capability to produce a rational thought.
How about this, when my kids apply to college I will just have them submit short paragraphs to admissions offices. Hell, they might be so amazed that my future son can write an entire paragraph in the first person that he’ll get the degree sent right in the mail along with a job offering from Nike’s marketing division.
Also, @dave, whats “keeping racism alive” is the initiating comment by em. According to your comment when someone gets offended at a blatant, mindless statement, it’s wrong to say anything in return because it’s just keeping racism alive? Your also calling out someone for making bold statements while your defending a person who is making an assumption from 10 lines of text that the writer “certainly came from a third world country”.
@Rich
Again, I disagree.
No offense, I thought he came from a third world country too. How do I know this? Gut instinct from being a third world immigrant with English as my second language. EX: “I was being rude clumsy bastard”. Considering the effort he took in sculpting that statement its unlikely that he would have forgotten an “a” unless he comes from a language (like my own mother tongue) that does not have “a” as a word.
Another ex: “All he asking is”, this shows a foreign language construction being used in English.
He might have been from a foreign 1st world country, but than it is unlikely he’d be driving a cab. Cab drivers tend to be locals or third-world immigrants.
Richy, have you dealt with racism? I understand that they teach Canadians (I don’t know about Americans) that everything is racist. However, how can it be racism if we don’t know the person’s race? Should we call third-world-ism? What if he was a white Lebanese man? Is it still racism?
I’d have just reported my phone as stolen to the police, and said the cabby was being dishonest, that he was paid in full and stole the phone, and then proceeded to harass me on FB, if it was me.
@Phil Johnston
Would you have also ran from the driver instead of paying? If so, looks like the driver is right in calling you a “rude clumsy bastard”. If not, then the driver wouldn’t have your phone, or if they did have your phone, would most likely return it, and you wouldn’t have a problem at all.
“Em says:
That cabby’s brilliant: He stays in that psuedo-1st person the whole way through, and it really works. The dude certainly came from a third world country, and it’s sobering to realize that had he been born in the developed world, he’d have a degree or two under his belt and a solid career in marketing analytics or whatnot.”
Really? You silly, silly racist. You make three blind assumptions about that man based solely on his profession. That he’s a foreigner (which isn’t indicated anywhere,) that foreigners don’t have access to higher education (It’s often better, cheaper, and more accessible abroad. Ever heard of medical school in India?), and that he’s intelligent. You have no evidence to support your claim that this cabbie would do well in higher education. Any idiot who’s used a smartphone could figure out how to do what that cabbie just did. And his grammar is certainly on par with yours. Do you think he’s a foreigner because he uses poor grammar? The first line of your post had 6 spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors. Please, explain the literary device of speaking in the “Psuedo-1st person.”
It’s funny how you comment on the high probability that this cabbie lacks education, and yet his spelling and grammar are far superior to yours.
If only you had grown up in America, you obviously wouldn’t make these mistakes. Oh wait, it doesn’t matter. Foreigners are just as capable of succeeding on their own as Americans, and just as capable of being failed flunkie cabbies.
Besides, if the guy was from a third world country, wouldn’t he be worried about getting fired and deported when he’s discovered?
oh, and @Ben
You’re obviously right. Typos and omitted modifiers are INDISPUTABLE proof this guy MUST be foreign. No American would make such a mistake, ESPECIALLY when posting on facebook. And excuse me, but unless you have some 6th sense that tells you what country a person is from, your uneducated third world “hunch” carries no weight.
From Ben: “Another ex: “All he asking is”, this shows a foreign language construction being used in English.” No, this shows that somebody is using someone else’s smartphone that they aren’t used to and forgot the word “is” between “he” and “asking.” And, unless you know for sure that the syntax of both yours and the cabbie’s native language are similar or have the same lingual roots (i.e. Neo-Latin Romantic languages versus Greek based, etc.) don’t talk to me about foreign language sentence construction, or your “hunch” that he’s a foreigner too. You blatantly contradict yourself. Ben says: “How do I know this? Gut instinct…” Well, that sounds really reliable, doesn’t it.
And yes, “racisim” may not be the BEST term for this situation. So how about “You have misguided discriminatory preconceptions?” And “racism” works because we’re making judgements about a person on exclusionary grounds, e.g. they aren’t American. And you’re damn straight it would be equally as racist if the person was Lebanese.
When a white guy at the Apple Store does this, it’s considered mildly amusing. But if someone whom you perceive as a foreigner does this, well, he must be a genius who is being held back by the system, right?
@Phil,
The police would have believed the cabby over the punter without a shadow of a doubt, having been in the business with my family for years I have had many many dealings with drunk punters and the police.
Police love the cabbies clearing the streets of drunks at the end of the night and they know exactly what they have to deal with and are very supportive in my experience.
@Ben
Where do I start?
First of all you assume the person who wrote this put a large amount of effort into the statement. Also your argument contradicts itself at every single point you make.
[EX: “I was being rude clumsy bastard”. Considering the effort he took in sculpting that statement its unlikely that he would have forgotten an “a” unless he comes from a language (like my own mother tongue) that does not have “a” as a word.
Another ex: “All he asking is”, this shows a foreign language construction being used in English.

You say that its unlikely that he would have forgotten an “a” unless he comes from a language that does not have “a” as a word, however, he uses “a” as a word frequently in his lines of text, twice, as a matter of fact, in the sentence preceding your illustrious example. He also correctly writes sentences disproving your second example twice before you reference your second brilliant example.
I don’t know, but to me this seems like poor typing by a person (agreeing with joshua) and of course when I post to facebook I take great care and effort in every single post I make without trying to make any typing errors at all.
Oh and BENNY, to be condescending in return, racism, like joshua said, might not be the best term but it does work because you are classifying and making judgemental remarks about a person pertaining to, as the definition reads, “a group of people related by common descent or heredity”. And to answer your final question, yes it would be just as equally racist if the man were white and lebanese, where do you get any idea that it would be any less?
You all know that this is fake, right? The guy just made this up, it isn’t a cabby posting that.
Jeez… Quite a loss of focus by posters. Does it matter where the cab driver is from at all?
I’ve heard way too many creeps brag about doing runners, showing zero concern for the loss of income suffered by the person driving their drunk a$$es around and having to listen to their stupid conversations all night.
I hope this works out for the cab driver.
@Em
since when has ‘having a degree or two’ and having ‘a solid career’ had anything to do with one another? hasn’t Occupy taught us anything? maybe he’s driving a cab to pay off his student loans.
My Internet penis/vagina is bigger/tighter than yours! I need to prove it by being condescending to all these people. I will use the fact that I’ll never meet them as justification for my actions.
BTW Joshua is a douche bag, he totally does runners brah.
You know who else was racist? Hitler! Sorry, with all the snarky parsing going on I figured I’d just get Godwin’s Law out of the way. My 2 cents? I work with a lot of English Second Language students, and it could be the translation. It could also just be texting out a message on the device. Don’t Iphones constantly suggest words and change syntax on you? When I text, if it is ungrammatical but makes sense, I tend to just send it and assume the recipient can figure it out.
Well I gotta give credit to the person that posted this thread….wow she really trolled everyone here, this is fake. it’s obvious.
great trolling Tara!
As we all know, all first world people use perfect spelling and grammar all of the time and in all circumstances, and anyone missing out certain words when using a shitty onscreen keyboard on a phone they have never used before must be a johnny foreigner.
Are you serious? Most people in first world countries write like dyslexic hippos with down syndrome.
Just because his English isn’t perfect doesn’t mean he’s from a third world country at all. What if he’s French or something? In any case, I’ve heard people from America speak far worse than this man.
@Travis:
As a dyslexic hippo with down syndrome, I take great offense to your comment. As you can clearly see, I type with far more elegance than your post suggests. Please don’t jump to conclusions based on our mental shortcomings and large, unwieldy feet.
Why exactly did everyone get all up in arms about Em’s comment? Maybe she made some assumptions. Maybe they aren’t right. But the point wasn’t that the guy was from a third world country, or that he was poor. The point was that the person who you might see as less important than yourself could turn out to be a much better person than you.
I hate all of you. People like you detract from the interesting way that this cab driver dealt with this situation. Kudos to the cabbie, you can all fuck yourself with your bullshit analysis of social attitudes. Or I guess you can all inject your personal views of society on something that had nothing to do with any of that.
Well i thought it was entertaining.. You can all analyze the comment if you want to, but i find the actual post far more interesting. That cab driver (even if it’s fake, it doesn’t really matter to me) is awesome! So how about we drop this conversation, seeing as it will most likely never be resolved, and enjoy the humor of the post.
You can be ‘reasonably’ certain that the cabbie’s english is ESL, because this happened in Melbourne, and while the cabbie demographic contains many older Greek and Italian drivers, today it is prominently Indian, Pakistani and a vast variety of African immigrants.
The former - Indian and Pakistani, are generally students studying business and IT degrees, so they all disappear around exam time, and the African drivers are here with their families, fleeing strife. They are all good people, and don’t deserve the shit treatment that a subset of our white priveleged wanker uni students feel they can get away with.
yo! guys guys guys relax!....besides, hes obviously an african immigrant! duhhh! it sux that he doesnt have opportunities for greatness he may have been able to achieve greatness! hell maybe even the presidency! if he wasnt ALSO gay! such a sad world for gays aye *sigh*
To all you Clowns that sre getting precious remember….
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS:
The belief, conceived by a vast minority and sold to the majority by the media, that it’s possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.
I have Undisputable evidence the most of the people here, after em, Are flaming trolls. Just looking to argue just to argue. I will not voice this to any particular people. I will exempt this statement from those defending em. Instead you shall be COUNTER TROLLS. But none of you would ever make these arguments face to face with each other. If there were no trolls then the internet would run so much faster.
To all who don’t care:
Stop having a comment war about who is right. Just appreciate the post. I’m a High Schooler, and i have more common sense to just enjoy this then comment my belief’s and/or opinion’s.
I didn’t take the time to read all the posts, except a few regarding the cabby is/was from a 3rd world country. Regardless of the assumption, if he truly wrote the letter, it’s highly unlikely he is recently immigrated from, a 3rd world country.
In the first line, “I was being a dick to a cab driver…” suggests an American cultural background grammatical syntax. I don’t think cab drivers, many of which are many times portrayed as from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India would use that syntax.
Clearly, he is American Born (or raised), or has lived here a long time, regardless of his nationality.
@emily
Some of you guys were douches about the whole third world country thing. The story says the cab driver seemed much to clever and educated then only a cab driver, as if he had a diploma in another country. It’s a compliment for the guys when people go like “By the flying fucks of god! This gentleman deals with situations with a degree of awesomness which surpasses the job description of a taxi driver!”
@em you don’t know sh*t about that cab driver or where he came from, you’re just basing your assumptions around his status as a cab driver.
Your all idiots
woaw…who cares where the cab driver is from. and none of us type perfectly, esp when it comes to text/fb. say, i’m not capitalizing my words…am i from a third world country then?! o.0
I have a bellybutton :D
Lol. I love there this comment thread has gone.
third world country is good comment you forget countries can go backwards
Good Lord. I read the thing, and it was pleasant and mildly amusing. I don’t expect much more out it, because this is, after all, the Internet. Then I made the mistake of scrolling down and seeing the comments. Most of you need to get over yourselves, and each other. Pick your battles. Better yet, stay here and bicker amongst yourselves over trivial details and analyze the shit out of innocuous commentary. Civilization will get along just fine without you. It has so far.
yo fuck you oldestgenxer!
jk….just trolling lol, your right!
@ em
You are such an ignorant
Who cares if he is from a third world country or not? i bet he has a better education than you! Not every person from a third world country is poor or dont have an education so maybe you should start informing yourself and getting an education cause you are nothing but an ignorant person and next time just because his grammar ist perfect doesnt mean anything. Im from Europe and have recently moved to the states just for work and I bet even if my grammar isnt perfect I have a better education : I went to college and I have a MBA ...have you graduated from primary school? based on what you wrote i dont think you have
@ Lu:
YOU have an MBA? Please don’t say where from. I would feel cheated if it were my Alma mater in that they awarded a degree to someone who could not communicate better that you did in your response; it also may devalue the degree.
Really? I thought that Em was being nice by saying this guy was “brilliant”. Lets be real for a second here, driving a cab is not considered by the majority of people to be a very good job. If your going to be racist you dont call the other person “brilliant”. Maybe all the people that are on here name dropping all their colleges they went to could have a little common sense here and realize she is trying to give the guy a compliment and point out our issues as a HUMAN race.
Seeing as how everyone from all walks of life, be they illiterate, uneducated, Lebanese, Canadian, or third-world, put in their two cents, I felt I should as well.
First: Obviously, the lady who posted first about the cabbie being “third-world” was out of line, making assumptions based on nothing but the man’s profession and his way of typing. Sure, it’s judgemental, and sure, racist is most likely the best word for what she came across when she typed it, but honestly, I think she really just wanted to sound smart. When it gets right down to it, half of what she said made no sense. Psuedo first-person? Marketing analytics? What on earth do those things have to do anything with the original post? (And I’m pretty sure psuedo-first person, if such a thing really does exist, isn’t the correct classification for his style of writing. I just thought I’d go ahead and throw that out there.)
Second: For those of us criticizing her (yes, I include myself), none so far have managed to post a comment without any spelling, punctuation, or grammatical errors whatsoever.
Third: Why did no one, other than the hippo man who commented only to joke, verbally fire at the person who posted that bit that said something about down syndrome? If we are to be perfectly fair, children, we mustn’t thrust the blame onto one person alone when others clearly deserve some as well.
Fourth: Sure, it may be a fake post, and we may all just be feeding the troll, but the “racism”, as we have so dubbed it, is very real and should, in my opinion, be addressed.
And fifth: The lesson here is to make no assumptions whatsoever. People will bite your head off about it, stick countless labels on you, and analyze each and every syllable, every letter, every sound to kill any positive notes there may or may not have been in it.
As a less important side note, half of our “great” America speaks, spells, and writes worse than the so-called third-world cabbie. I hope you all read this post and STOP THE MADNESS.
Y u so enraged, peeples? U no have sense of humour? Oh, u make internetz bery sad.

new plan! i think we should all hate the french guy because…well….he is annoying n such ya know holier than thou attitude hahahahah
Lol @everyone!
You “PC” people think you are on such a high horse. I didn’t read anything in there about calling him a nigger, or a spic, or a wetback, or a camel jockey, or a kite… The dude is a cab driver, while yes some are white, and most probably are not. It comes down to the fact you guys are have ruined this photo. With all your stupid comments about this or that or the other. I wish I would have been the first to say something about this. I would have said something about this guy being a towel head. Just to really piss all you stupid people off, and then you could just yell at me for really being a racist.
When It comes down to it does it really matter if she was being racist I don’t think so. I don’t feel the way this person writes can really tell you were he is from, or who he is. He is a clever cabby who is getting some well deserved revenge. Lets just leave it at that and celebrate the brilliance of this human being, and not crucify people in the comments for their less than brilliant posts.
Unless you are a troll, then by all means troll forth. Its what you were born to do.
Sorry if those words offended you. I am just making a point. Also, I would have not actually posted anything about him being a towel head.
Person 1: I have a fruit. It has a moist center. It has an orange covering.
Person 2: Person 1 has an orange.
Everyone Else: No you racist b——-, it’s a tangerine.
(too bad it was a pumpkin)
Nice to see Reddit aren’t spraying memes everywhere anymore.
why does everybody gotta have somethin to say. now me aswell
Totally brilliant, but I kind of suspect this might be fake…too lazy to count but you can only write 500 characters for a wall post on Fb and it looks like this might be more than 500 characters.
You all need to find outlets for your energy. Whether or not this is fake or he is from a third world country, etc. This is wicked funny. It was put up to make us laugh. Its really sad when even things that are made to make us laugh have everyone up in arms. Enjoy a giggle every now and then, eh?
Cool story, Bro.
Wow!! This convo is funny. First, have any of you heard of typos? Is it possible that in a harried attempt at satire, the “cabby” didn’t punctuate or include the article “a?” How or why does that denote third world origin or ESL status? LOL That, in and of itself, is the reason for the racist tinge. No allusion to country of origin and from a simple, yet clever, statement on an FB post, and entire background is developed by a hapless observer and countless other bafoons. . . that’s funny!!
owned
Why is this the “ultimate” revenge? This is appropriate revenge. I would consider ultimate revenge to be something like kicking the kid’s ass or putting him in jail.
errm I hate to add to this but for everybody getting their knickers in a twist about the missing “a”, since it should come before the word extremely, it should actually be “an”. sorry for the interuption. Please continue.
I have just read through every one of your posts and all I have to say is this. The posts put up here are for fun. All of you that are cross examining them are really just wasting your time. Who cares what em said who cares what josh said who cares if its condescending or contradictory. All of you just go on these things to start arguments and its WEIRD. Get a life like em do you see how she does makes a comment and leaves? You all just argue with each other and its creeping me out.
I like how Em has made an effort to defend herself. oh wait… she doesn’t care. The Cabbie is the man. No more needs be said. We have no right to debate his cultural background. Instead of discussing how each of the people who have commented before are “racist” how about raising the subject of how this little brat is disgracing himself and his family?
YOU ALL NEED TO GET VITAMIN D!!!!! STOP ARGUING OVER MOOT POINTS AND GET SOME EXERCISE!!!!!
wow, i’ve found this page by stumble and… quite funny your comments!!!
you’re all aware that it’s a FACEBOOK status from a CELLPHONE? Who would write a ten line status gramatically perfect on a cellphone???
What a fucking waste of time. You know what? I’m the kind of guy who’d do the same kind of mistakes, and I’m from QUEBEC, CANADA.
Now I didn’t know that CANADA was a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY! For Christ sake’s, IT’S A FUCKING PICTURE. Arguing about it on the internet is POINTLESS. We’re not at the international congress against racism or whatever.
just change your password.hahaha. smart cab driver though lol
To the person that says the cabbie is from a 3rd world country, you must be talking about the United States of America, or you are just clearly blind and mistaken about the state of your country. The USA is a 3rd world country now sunshine!
Ahahahah hahaha AAAhahahahah!
I used to drive cab for years and let me tell you if you ever did that to me I would not even say a word. I would drive you to the police station so fast you wouldn’t be able to jump out. As for the cabby,GOOD FOR YOU BROTHER
What the, all that for a measly taxi bill?
Why are you people getting mad at Em for being glad this man was able to make the best out of his situation. Em makes some assumptions, but does he ever come out and get pissed because the cabbie got the last laugh??? Jesus fucking christ people, use your fucking heads for once. “Oh he made an assumption that offends me!” GREAT! Why don’t you read the rest of the fucking message and try to understand where he’s coming from. -.-
the fact you have all made a big thing about race on a picture of a facebook status is so f**ing sad its unreal !!!
you ALL need to get a grip and open your eyes!
whos cares of the cabbie is black, white, yellow or orange ffs! the funny thing about this is the little shit who tried to mug someone off got caught out…
you all really need to stop making a massive deal out of little things… GET A LIFE
and before the argument starts coming my way. i dont give a toss… Im white. my sisters black my stepmoms black… Does that make me a racist cus i can tell from the colour of their skin they arent from a british background.
lighten up and and suck my balls already x
The cab driver did not write the post. The passenger did.
I think that’s Patrick Kane in the picture!
Why do you think English is the cabbie’s second language? You should check how english speakers tend to write, you would be surprised by how bad their grammar is. So before making any assumptions please think it thoroughly.
Sorry, what was the story again?
@Em, I’m from a third world country and I’m living in America now. People here are pretty damn stupid in comparison to third world countries. Most my friends went to Ivy League schools and we went to school in Egypt. It’s dumb people like who think everyone outside America is dumb.
