Bardot was no singer but that hardly mattered within the context of the cartoonish videos she co-starred in with Serge Gainsbourg. Both Gainsbourg’s muse and visual foil, Bardot, like Jane Birkin, was iconic in ways that you made you forget her limitations as a vocalist.
