If you’re thinking about buying this, stop thinking and buy it. If you are a true FST fan, it is a “must have” on the level of the classic albums.

Glen Banks says:

Words can’t approximate what goes on in these radio shows.  The level of creativity, humor and love in these broadcasts will find no equal.  No one before or since has the ability to interact and entice the intelligent mind in this manner.  AND make one laugh while doing so.

I’ve only been waiting for this for about 25 years or more. I have my copy, all indexed in iTunes. To hear “Deputy Dan” and the other “Dear Friends” pieces in context is priceless.

I developed my “radio voice” from listening to and memorizing early FST stuff. Thanks, guys!

Live from Tent City, the gateway to Lacombe, LA, beautiful Slidell, LA. Thank you Firesign, for giving me something to laugh about for 40 fucking years.  You are the antimatter to Glen Beck dark matter. Roll Wisconsin!

That’s what the bunny told me!

Yes indeed this is a Must for all true Fireheads!

I’m savoring mine. I’ve listened to the Radio Hour Hour shows and I’m going through them again. So cool to hear them working through ideas for Dwarf in those early shows. And Richard’s comment about noticing the contributions of various members when they’re absent is dead on.

Note to the font designer: It’s one word—“Firesign Theatre” not “Fire Sign Theatre”.

Have this on in my vehicle, non-stop. (No, not the vehicle, the wackiness - the vehicle HAS to stop occasionally). Problem is now my visibility is no good, ‘cuz I’m weeping all the time. Also, I’m getting very paranoid about what the other drivers are thinking as they see me laughing and choking like a crazy rat or pig behind my wheel. They might think I’m trying to dodge cheese balls or whatever.

I love Firesign long time and they deserve far more respect. Mr Bergman was ambushed. The interviewer should have shut the fuck up and allowed the guests to comment more about the seminal DOMM package. Sadly, this Barney Frank eyebrow stunt double looking, attention deficit disorder mf hijacked half a rare interview to spew rage and hate for the wealthy and those he perceives as inferior based on education, geography or whatever. This rolling blackout used Firesign’s popularity to criticize fans and telegraph his screwy, unenlightened, mean spirited political views on their time. “Dogs flew spaceships! The Aztecs invented the vacation! Men and women of the same sex! 0ur forefathers took drugs! Yes! That’s right! Everything you know is wrong!”

@Randy

You claim you’ve listened to Firesign Theatre for so long, yet why have you not learned *anything* from them?

Hate to break it to you, pal, but clearly Peter’s *not disagreeing with me*!

Thanks for stopping by!

I first heard Firesign when I was a child, I have really vivid memories of listening to them with a friend and both of us rolling about in utter hysterics. I lost the one tape I had when I was around five or six and I’d had no idea what it was I was listening to at the time as it was just an unmarked copy. A great many times over the years I’d mourned the loss of that tape and wondered whether I’d ever find out what that recording was.

When I found the Firesign interview on Dangerous Minds a few years back, I remember being so excited watching that interview before I’d even listened to any of their material to find out if those guys were responsible for the recording on that tape I’d lost twenty odd years before. Listening to them talk with Richard about their work, I just knew it was going to be them! Within a few hours I was reunited with Waiting for the Electrician, and had become acquainted with a good chunk of their other work.

I first found out about Disinfo when my mum bought me the Everything You Know Is Wrong book when I was in my teens (I think she bought it mostly because the title was a dig at my know-it-all attitude of the time - thanks for trying to take the piss mum!), but it wasn’t until watching that DM interview almost eight years later that I made the connection between the book’s title and Firesign and how much of an influence they had been on Richard and the Disinfo label.

Thank you Richard for bringing these guys back into my life, and you seem like the kinda guy who could make an offhanded comment become reality so very much looking forward to the upcoming Madlib/Firesign collaboration!
