Hitler reacts to Lt. Pike pepper-spray meme

Painting by Dan Lacey.

Memes within memes within memes.

We’ve entered the hall of mirrors at the sideshow.

Of the “Hitler reacts” videos, this is particularly stellar in its self-referential brilliance. 300 views on Youtube. Let’s see how fast this goes viral.

“It’s pathetic, being a meme used to mean something.”

And you know at this exact moment, someone *will* be photoshopping Hitler into a Manet thus creating a meme based on a meme based on a meme…........

It’s a black hole of self-referential meme-meaning. Soon, modern culture will implode.

“I was going to buy three of these for everyone I know this Christmas, but then I did a little research and saw that there was 1.3% Red Band (good) and 1.3% Blue Band (again, good), but no White Band to speak of (bad). I’m sorry, but when I’m about to get Patriotic in someone’s face, I need that 1.3% White or I just can’t get my point across. No Red, White, and Blue? No thanks. Try again Defense Technology. “

Yawn. The “Hitler reacts” thing was funny the first time.. not since. This shit really trivializes a brilliant movie and performance.. how many hipsters will every be able to appreciate “The Bunker” now?

JohnnyYen says:

Maybe not brilliant, depending on your yardstick, but The Bunker was fine, very affecting movie and Ganz gave what the used to call in Variety a bravura performance. Scenery-chewing? How else do you play a madman having a nervous breakdown

JohnnyYen,

Bruno Ganz was not in ‘The Bunker.”

You’re right - I mistyped - I meant Downfall, the sprawling epic four-hour or so

I imagine i confused it because of the final bit, in the bunker, with the Nazi high staff mommies poisoning their children. Grim shit

Never saw The Bunker actually
