Chouthi Bai from a village in Rajasthan breastfeeds a three day old calf whose mother recently died. Bai feeds the calf 3 or 4 times a day. “The gods will be pleased if I raise her.”
What an extraordinary way to acquire good karma.

I predict the calf will not live long. There is no way a human can provide enough milk for a growing calf. Look how skinny it is now! There is no way that its stomach can digest bread either. It’s a recipe for disaster, although I’m sure the calf feels her love and is doing the best she can. They should look for another cow to feed her, that is what her body needs - cows milk. Although it’s an interesting twist on humans drinking cows milk isn’t it?
Although I do not agree with this, I think it would be possible for her to generate enough breastmilk for the calf by using an Ameda breast pump to build up her ongoing supply. As long as you pump very often you’ll keep producing more and more, which could also have a pretty drastic effect on a woman’s breasts over time.
