And there you have it. These videos are mini-masterpieces of comedy. Not only are you laughing at the “musicians” testing out instruments at the store, but when this guy makes his cameo appearance, the look on his face will have you in tears. He doesn’t have to say anything at all and it’s side-splitting. When you make eye-contact, you know what he’s thinking!

Brad Laner says:

Yeah, the guy would obviously rather be listening to Steve Vai or something, hence the funny. That random customer noise sounds great to me !

This is Bailey Bros in Birmingham, AL. I stopped there on tour once, needing a fuse for a Marshall amp. The guy in the guitar section took about 30 minutes to get me the fuse, he kept going to the back of the shop then returning 5-10 minutes later as if he had forgotten about the fuse entirely. Once he finally gave it to me, I walked to the front counter and they tried to charge me nine dollars for a single fuse. Nine dollars! Hopefully I was the victim of a prank, but I don’t think so. A truly terrible place with a horrible staff.

Wow. These are brilliant. Having married a guitar player, I’ve spent a lot of hours in various music stores all over the country. I know that facial expression. I’ve had it on my very own face.

No, my spouse does not play “Pathway to Paradise” and is a low maintenance musician, or I probably wouldn’t have kept on dating him in the first place.

I guess even this bearded turd of a retail clerk needs to feel superior to someone.

There have been times when I’ve walked into Guitar Center to get strings (god I hate that place), and there are about 7 people SHREDDING on guitars all at once, and I immediately get a headache. I don’t know how people can stand to work there, but there are guys who are apparently lifers there, who have worked there for 10-15 years by my count.

Based on what I’ve heard of this guy’s own music, he better keep his day job.

Marc runs a guitar center, actually. Probably wants to make sure that’s not one of his guys.

How wonderful that sharing the exciting event with friends. There is no better way than wearing the team’s MLB jerseys to focus on their matches to express the love for a team. In this case, the MLB jerseys are sold hot online. If you are a fan of MLB, you should not miss the cheap MLB jerseys.

I love how just because this guy is venting his retail frustrations on the interwebs, everyone decides it’s okay to be abusive assholes. Duder works for a little above minimum and discounts, dealing with the kind of jackasses that think it’s okay to make fun of people because they’re fat. Hats off for not taking a baseball bat to them all.

Someotherguy says:

To be fair to the ponytail guy and in retort to the people who seem to be taking this as a self conscious attack on their own musicianship, there is a massive divide between working in ‘music’ and working in ‘music retail’. Sure the guy’s videos are a little condescending but therein lies the comedy! Those who can’t appreciate it remind me of the physics teachers I had in high school who would constantly reminded me, “sarcasm is the lowest for of wit” . Bullshit, its the foundation! Either that or the critics have never worked a day in retail or hospitality. Let a nerd have his 15 min of roflz ya haterz.

It is not just music retail, working in any retail situation will make you hate the human race. The problem is that you do not remember the 80% of customers that are nice and just buy what they need and leave. What is burned into your brain is the other 20% who make you life a living hell and proved to you that we are doomed as a species. Everyone who has to work with the public, retail sales, food service, bar tending,etc.. will tell you they hate people unless they are completely nuts themselves.
A few years back there was a website that told stories from a video rental store that would curl your hair, does anyone remember this site and have a link? Most entertaining. For the record I have worked in music stores, and been a full time musician who has recorded numerous CD’s and toured the world, so not everyone that works in a guitar shop is a roadie or lacks talent, sometimes one needs to pay some bills. I will say working in a music shop can kill your love of music, just like working as a stripper could make you hate men.

@ no jack,
Odd coincidence, in my native tongue of the Old Country, the phrase is pronounced “Yootoo-Bee”, and it roughly translates to “Please be safe.” Funny ol’ world.
Good lookin’ out, thx. Yootoo-Bee.
