So sad to hear this. From the Associated Press:

Company spokeswoman Samantha Garrett said McQueen’s body was found in the morning but that she had no information “in terms of circumstances.”
Police did not directly comment when asked about how McQueen died, but said officers were called by the ambulance service at 10:20 a.m. (1020GMT) to an address on Green Street, in central London, and found a 40-year-old man dead. They did not name him but said next of kin had been informed.

The force said a post-mortem would be held but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

What a sad loss. IMHO he was a genius - he elevated fashion to a whole new level. His 2010 ready to wear collection is truly mind blowing.

He was no artist, like I am.

This is so sad. I don’t know of anyone else who could make such interesting and beautiful things right on the edge of the grotesque. Occasionally I get a sense of some influence, like Leigh Bowery (Or Antoni Gaudi. Just look at those shoes! They’re practically architecture.) But it always seems like his work just sort of fell out of the sky. Or came out of the ground like remnants of some impossible and forgotten classical age. All of that, and he came from humble beginnings and shunned the limelight. Just so many reasons to like him and to feel genuinely sad over the death of someone you’ve never met.
