Blixa Bargeld’s Hornbach commercials

image

Nick Cave once said that Blixa Bargeld’s voice could mimic the sound of cats being strangled or children dying. So who better than the front man of Einst?ɬrzende Neubauten—a group well-known for playing their music with power drills and jack hammers—to star in a series of 13 TV commercials reading the Hornbach Home Improvement catalog as if it were dada sound poetry? ?Ǩ?Sometimes you can only see the truth when you turn things upside down?Ǩ said Bargeld. ?Ǩ?To read the Hornbach catalog wasn?ǨѢt my idea, but I liked the idea and that is why I did it. If I hadn?ǨѢt treated texts in this way this before, I wouldn?ǨѢt have been able to see that it?ǨѢs possible.?Ǩ
