For the first time in a very long time, an interview with Philip Austin, Peter Bergman, David Ossman and Philip Proctor, the legendary Firesign Theater. (Jan 8 & 9, 2010 shows in Whidbey Island, Washington, see www.firesigntheatre.com for more information)
Wow - how great is this!? Heroes, indeed. Thanks so much for this - a lot of fascinating stuff for any fan. And David Ossman is looking like Walter White from Breaking Bad…

so cool to see/hear the 4 or 5 Guys talking together after all this time!
I’ve been a fan since before the beginning & I can’t wait for a hopefully huge FT coffee-table tome & also the DVD commentaries—that’d be heaven for me—can’t wait for all that!!

Merciful Lee Dickens says:
Yes, wonderful interview - thank you!
I’ve been a fan ever since one side of Waiting For The Electrician played over and over and over one hot 1970s night and everyone was too loaded to do anything about it. Finally someone managed to get up and walk over to the record player. What did they do? They flipped the record over.
But left the (wow wuddya call that thing - I forget) platter stabilizer arm thingie - off to the side, so we listened to *that* side over and over and over until the sun came up.
That experience made me who I am today.
If anyone wants me, I’ll be lying out in the middle of the road.

Angsto the Clown says:
What the fuck? It just kinda stops like the final episode of The Sopranos! I was so pissed at David Chase until I surmised that Tony got clipped. Remember Silvio saying how you never hear it and Bobby saying something to that effect as well? That didn’t help me through my grieving period but it explained a couple things. This however is unacceptable… this cannot stand, man.
Where’s the rest of this interview? You’re killing me here.

I have to concur with Angsto here: where the bleeping Jesus is the remainder of this interview/discussion? Did’ja run out of memory? What kind of horn-swaggalling rip-off is this? Just when the guys were going good ... ZIP!—> BEEP! ... nada ...
Personally, my favorite character from Everything You Know Is Wrong is Nino Savate.
“You look kind of square and regular ... ”
“That’s the steel box! Inside I’m tan and handsome!”

Thanks Guys- I really liked Phil Austin’s comment that we are all becoming the same age group, the Shows in LA at Barnsdall really brought that out. If any of you reading this can make it to the shows at Whidbey (close to Seattle)- DO! The performance of High School Madness had us laughing with tears of joy.
“Good idea, Chuck, But syrup can’t stop ‘em!”

Everytime I turn around I am reminded I am next to but not necessarily Humboldt County. You guys keep getting brillianter and older. I guess I will keep listening and getting older with you. Thanks for selling out to the reality that keeps on giving. I love you guys, but not in a gay way, I think. Jerry

Saw both Whidbey shows and the Q&A last Saturday afternoon which I’m reviewing for Chromium Switch. These two video interviews with the lads are very much like that Q&A, much of the same material and many of the same comments. I’ll link to it from my review. Bergman especially spoke fondly of meeting Richard and his coming involvement with Firesign projects. He mentioned that Richard had listened to the entire 72 hours of Hour Hour/Dear Friends/Let’s Eat of the box set but could find only two things too obscure for modern listeners. One was George Metetsky and I forget the other one. Surely Richard would know?
