This 1969 IHOP ad was clearly made for a… niche audience. How they got away with such blatant psychedelic pandering is beyond me.
I bet this was approved by very un-hip corporate executives that just thought it was a little quirky, and perhaps supposed to appeal to the kids.
What the hell is in that ceramic chicken ?
Maybe this is just some innocuous vignette about a happy family taking their balloons out for a walk on a Sunday morning after passing bong hits back and forth to take the edge off a Saturday night mescaline binge… the rest pretty much explains itself. And even ceramics can look appetizing!
