Duchamp’s Anemic Cinema is recalled as a collaboration between Duchamp and Man Ray, but it was really a collaboration between May Ray and Duchamp’s female alter ego Rrose Selavy (c’est la vie, geddit?). It was made with Duchamp’s kinetic sculptures, the Rotoreliefs, which I have written about before here. The title Anemic Cinema is a near palindrome.

The full pun is “eros c’est la vie”. I also like L.H.O.O.Q. which Duchamp titled his mustachioed Mona Lisa with, which is homophonic with “she has a hot ass” (approximately)in French.

I wish it didn’t have that insipid sound track. Better to watch it in silence, I think.

i did not realize the palindrome.  i wish to know more about LHOOQ, and what John said.  I’m not sure i follow.

i will make your site my new standard link because it has more knowledge attached via the website!

so far, suspect that you are into the same stuff i am, so i will dig around happily.

have you seen David Lynch’s “Alphabet”?  you would appreciate that.  experimental short film, stop motion animation from 1968.
