And Psalm 109:8 is just straight up memetastic, appearing on bumper stickers and T-shirts, all of which carry the benign sounding message, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìPray For Obama.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù But, as Gawker?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s John Cook points out, this is just one more in a ?¢‚Ǩ?ìlong line of cheekily coded Obama death threats.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù The verse in question reads: ?¢‚Ǩ?ìMay his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù That leads fairly naturally into the Psalm 109:9, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìMay his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù You know, in case you miss the point.

Thanks for this info.  The sad thing is I just received my first order from Cafepress yesterday.  It’s a very cool customized ornament and I was thrilled to death.  Then I read this.  I just emailed them to tell them how I feel that selling items that so insidiously call for Obama’s death (or anyone’s for that matter) is beneath contempt, and that I will not order from them EVER again.  They should be ashamed.  Selling anti-Obama stuff is one thing, but this is outrageous.  The assholes out there that try to wrap things in a nice ‘benevolent’ bible passage are evil fuckers.  I’m fuming.  Thanks again.

If one reads all of Psalm 109, it is obvious that the message in verse 8 is directed to the accusers of a “godly” man. Is Obama “godly”/good? I don’t know but I think the verse has been taken out of context and distorted and reflects more on the author of the meme than it does Obama.

It doesn’t matter whether it is a ‘godly’ issue or not.  It associates him WITH THAT PASSAGE.  How many idiots that order these are looking for the true ‘context’ of the passage?  My guess is none.  There is the implication by tying in a name with a verse that calls for a wife being a widow, etc.  Spin it any way you like.  It is what it is.

I didn’t vote for him, but I am proud to have a President of the United States.  I never thought of myself as a patriot, but I think I am.  I stand behind his choices, but wish they fell inline with my views more…. The thing I hate is US contractors raping our taxes…. Be a Patriot, you may make a living on the woes of war, but do not become rich….. Do the right thing for your nation!
