Keep in mind that openly expressed sympathies towards fascism were not that far out of the mainstream in Western democracies prior to the start of WWII, or that the racial and anti-Semitic attitudes of the Germans were really only a more extreme version of the views most Europeans, including the British, already held.

Of course, by 1944 SSHJ boys over the age of 10 were being sent into combat positions either manning anti-aircraft guns or as suicide bombers against Allied infantry.
