Roxy Music performing Virginia Plain and Love is The Drug on the last edition of British television’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, which aired on July 16. Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, and Paul Thompson all sound terrific. But, where’s Eno?

Roxy is touring Europe, but no US dates are currently scheduled.

Bryan Ferry/Jonathan Ross, separated at birth.

I’d guess that playing in a band’s been a non-starter for Eno for a good long time.

Dang! Those back up sisters are flawless. Rest of the band’s holding up pretty good too.

Bryan seems tired. He may need a new drug.

Andrew says:

Did I fall asleep for a moment in front of the TV? Or did BBC America cut Virginia Plain from their showing of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross? I don’t remember Ross saying “We have to tracks coming to you”, but the rest of the intro sounds familar, then I remember them cutting to Roxy Music at that full stage shot where the the guitar come in. (skipping that noodling around on the bass and that short drum fill)

Brad Laner says:

Eno was there on tape anyways. I heard his original synth sounds being triggered by one of the 20 people on stage on Virginia Plain.

Marc Campbell says:

Andrew, the performances of Virginia and Love were not aired on the show.

Mr. Eno is at home having a cup of tea,his dignity ever intact.

Marc Campbell says:

Who cares about dignity in rock and roll? The less dignified, the better.
